Zain Bahrain’s reward campaign with XIS.

What is the problem?

Zain Bahrain, the leading telecommunications provider in Bahrain, wanted to reward its existing customers following the national football team’s victory in the West Asia Cup. The challenge was to create an engaging and effective campaign that would stimulate loyalty and reward customers with free mobile data.

How can we help?

XIS and Zain Bahrain collaborated to develop a gamified coupon campaign. The campaign aimed to reward Zain’s existing customers by giving them the chance to win up to 7GB of mobile data through a 'Scratch & Win' coupon.

How did we solve it?

Campaign setup:

  • All existing Zain service users with a Zain Bahrain phone number were eligible for the promotion. They needed to download the Zain app and register.
  • After registration, users could claim a 'Scratch & Win' coupon and try their luck. Each user was entitled to one unique coupon.
  • Some lucky users could win up to 7GB of mobile data, while there were also consolation prizes for everyone who participated. Every participant won something.
  • An API between XIS’ Coupontools database and the Zain database ensured that only Zain phone numbers could win. Once the number was verified, the won data was immediately added to the user’s balance.


  • Security and validation:

  • The API integration ensured that all data matched and that only valid Zain numbers were eligible for prizes.
  • After verifying the phone number, Zain immediately added the won data to the customer’s balance.

    The campaign was a great gesture to honor the remarkable achievement of Bahrain’s national football team and to reward Zain’s loyal customers. It was an example of a well-crafted engagement, gamification, and loyalty campaign.
